Telehealth Psychology for eating disorders, NDIS, mental health problems and DVA
It takes just one step. Get accessible, personalised care for your mental wellbeing by phone or video, from the comfort of your home, anywhere in Australia.
I’m Christopher Beards, a registered psychologist based in the Sutherland Shire, NSW. I see clients across Australia by video or phone or locally, in person.
Most of my work is in these areas:
Eating disorders and body image. I hold the ANZAED/NEDC eating disorder credential and work with CBT-E and other evidence-based approaches. Medicare rebates are available with an Eating Disorder Plan or Mental Health Care Plan.
Anxiety, depression and other mental health concerns. Medicare rebates are available with a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP.
NDIS participants. I work with plan managed and self managed participants.
Veterans and DVA. I work with veterans, ADF members and their families funded through DVA.

Telephone or Video
Since COVID-19, Australia has recognised the need for and the support towards accessing mental health services online. Regardless of your location in Australia you can connect by telephone, mobile or video.
Cliniko is an online telehealth platform that allows us to connect. It maintains our privacy and confidentiality and gives an outlet if treatment is too far to access.

Do I need help?
Many people reach out when something starts to affect their mood, eating, sleep, work or relationships. If you're not sure whether seeing a psychologist is right for you, the Self Assessment questionnaires or a chat with your GP can be a good place to start.

How do I see you?
There are a few ways to access sessions:
a) Medicare: see your usual GP for a Mental Health Treatment Plan (often called a Mental Health Care Plan). This gives a rebate for up to 10 individual sessions each calendar year, starting with 6 and then a review with your GP.
b) Eating disorders: if eligible, your GP can prepare an Eating Disorder Treatment and Management Plan, giving rebates for up to 40 psychology sessions over 12 months.
c) DVA: Gold Card holders, and White Card holders for accepted conditions, can be referred by their GP. Each referral covers up to 12 sessions or 1 year.
d) NDIS: plan managed and self managed participants can use their plan funding.
A gap fee may apply. See the Services page for current fees.
